BBC Investigates employmemt support allowance

The BBC's current affairs department is investigating the difficulties people face when trying to claim ESA, for a television documentary. The programme aims to highlight claimants' experiences with the new system and to investigate why people with genuine illnesses and disabilities are being declared fit to work.

Do you, for example, believe the results of your Atos assessment are wrong? Or perhaps you do not think they reflect the answers you gave to the doctor at the time.


FREE MOBILE CALLS TO BENEFIT CLAIM LINES

Free mobile calls to benefits claim lines

From 18 January 2010, six of the biggest mobile phone network companies - O2, Orange, Tesco Mobile, T-Mobile, Virgin Mobile and Vodafone - will no longer charge their customers for calls to many of the Department of Work and Pensions 0800 benefits claim lines.

National Advice Week 12-18 October

In and Out of Work Pilot for Coventry

From October the Department of Work & Pension, Coventry City Council and Customs & Excise will be working together on a pilot aimed at supporting people who have short term work contracts.

Coventry Citizens Advice Bureau has been funded by the Primary Care Trust to deliver advice, advocacy and information services at Canley, Hillfields, Tile Hill and University Hospital.

Additional support for TB patients

A new service run by Coventry Citizens Advice Bureau and funded by the Primary Care Trust for people living in Coventry who are affected by TB. This service provides advice, advocacy and information on welfare benefits and entitlements. The service is free, impartial and confidential. The service can be accessed at the Citizens Advice Office in the town centre or at your usual health care centre.

New £190 grant for pregnant women

 

Health in Pregnancy Grant   

This new one off payment of £190 is for mothers to be. The rules are fairly simple and most pregnant women should get it

You can get it if:

  • you are at least 25 weeks pregnant
  • your baby is due on or after 6 April 2009
  • you have been given health advice from a midwife or doctor
  • immigration conditions do not apply

Claim it now but payments delayed
